THE POEM

I knelt to pray but not for long
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due
So I knelt and said a hurried prayer
And jumped up off my knees
My Christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease
All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer
No time to speak of Christ to friends
They'd laugh at me I'd fear...................
No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to
die.

I went before the Lord, I came
I stood with downcast eyes
For in his hands God held a book
It was the book of life.
God looked into his book and said
"Your name I cannot find I once was going to write it down...
But never found the time"

EASY VS HARD

Why is it so hard to tell the truth but Yet so easy to tell a lie?
Why are we so sleepy in church but Right when the sermon is over we suddenly wake up?
Why is it so hard to talk about God but yet so easy to talk about nasty stuff?
Why is it so boring to look at a Christian magazine, but yet so easy to look at a nasty one?
Why is it so easy to delete a Godly e-mail, but yet we forward all of the nasty ones?
Why are the churches getting smaller but yet the bars and dance clubs are getting larger?

A STORY

There once was a man named George Thomas, pastor in a small New England town. One Easter Sunday morning he came to the Church carrying a rusty, bent, old bird cage, and set it by the pulpit. Eyebrows were raised and, as if in response, Pastor Thomas began to speak..."I was walking through town yesterday when I saw a young boy coming toward me swinging this bird cage. On the bottom of the cage were three little wild birds, shivering with cold and
fright.I stopped the lad and asked, "What you got there, son?"
"Just some old birds," came the reply.
"What are you gonna do with them?" I asked.
"Take 'em home and have fun with 'em," he answered.
"I'm gonna tease 'em and pull out their feathers to make 'em fight. I'm gonna have a real good time"

"But you'll get tired of those birds sooner or later. What will you do?"

"Oh, I got some cats," said the little boy. "They like birds. I'll take 'em to them."

The pastor was silent for a moment. "How much do you want for those birds, son?"

"Huh?? !!! Why, you don't want them birds, mister. They're just plain old field birds. They don't sing. They ain't even pretty!"

"How much?" the pastor asked again.

The boy sized up the pastor as if he were crazy and said, "$10?"

The pastor reached in his pocket and took out a ten dollar bill.

He placed it in the boy's hand. In a flash, the boy was gone.

The pastor picked up the cage and gently carried it to the end of the alley where there was a tree and a grassy spot Setting the cage down, he opened the door, and by softly tapping the bars persuaded the birds out, setting them free. Well, that explained the empty bird cage on the pulpit, and then the pastor began to tell this story.

One day Satan and Jesus were having a conversation. Satan had just come from the Garden of Eden, and he was gloating and boasting. "Yes, sir, I just caught the world full of people down there. Set me a trap, used bait I knew they couldn't resist. Got 'em all!"

"What are you going to do with them?" Jesus asked.
Satan replied, "Oh, I'm gonna have fun! I'm gonna teach them how to marry and divorce each other, how to hate and abuse each other, how to drink and smoke and curse. I'm gonna teach them how to invent guns and bombs and kill each other. I'm really gonna have fun!"

"And what will you do when you get done with them?" Jesus asked.

"Oh, I'll kill 'em," Satan glared proudly. "How much do you want for them?" Jesus asked

"Oh, you don't want those people. They ain't no good. Why, you'll take them and they'll just hate you. They'll spit on you, curse you and kill you. You don't want those people!!"

"How much?" He asked again.

Satan looked at Jesus and sneered, "All your blood, tears and
your life."

Jesus said, "DONE!"

Then He paid the price.

The pastor picked up the cage he opened the door and he walked from the pulpit.

Notes: Isn't it funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell.
Isn't it funny how someone can say "I believe in God" but still follow Satan (who, by the way, also "believes" in God).

Isn't it funny how you can send a thousand jokes through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing?

Isn't it funny how I can be more worried about what other people think of me than what God thinks of me.

Hey TNT guys,

I’ve got super duper good news! Haha. Ive got 2 steamboats and a hot plate and I’ll probably kope food at my reunion dinner so we can have nice nice food on chu 3 okie? My place is the Bishan/ Thompson area darlings, if anyone’s coming by themselves just call or msg me there’s like a hundred buses outside my house super convenient that’s why im still living in the central area and refuse to move to the EAST where ALL of YOU are staying (:

Anw, I told my mom and she was really happy to open up our place (I think my little brother will be joining us) and she said must hurry buy the food before it gets expensive cos of CNY! Ive got a teeny red dress but it’s a tennis dress so I dunno if it’s appropriate… so, here’s what I’m providing:
1. Stock/ soup (not the Maggie mee flavoured cubes dun worry)
2. Rice
3. 2 steamboats and all the utensils needed
4. Hot plate
5. 1 kite (king’s koping the rest from camp rite! I want lightsticks too!!!)
6. any other things/ food you guys need hurry hurry ORDER
7. tentatively a box of seafood (mom’s friend promised a box of fresh Japanese seafood but dun count on it :P)

We need a wet weather plan peepz! My house has no espn haha sorry guys and YAY to the girls!

Soooo exciting then you guys can come and see my round bed! But no angbaos sorry cos my parents are in Melbourne, that’s why the house is open for all of us to mess up =S I’m at work now and as you can tell, how bored I am and doing everything else BUT WORK. Hee.

2:00 PM

hey my fellow brothers and sisters in christ!

my second post! haha. i'm so proud of myself... =p

ok in place of the yum cha restaurant tim sum buffet, we're gonna have a chinese new year outing at nina's place. here's the details:

day: tuesday (20 Feb, the 3rd day of cny)
venue: nina's house
time to meet: 3pm at tampines mrt...dun be late!!! =p
(for those who want to meet us straight, we're reaching nina's house at 3.30pm)
programme: steamboat

oh oh guess what's our theme? its RED ROUGE RIBBON! (haha sorry ivan...u must be thinking what!!!...no more arsenal soccer and Man U and what singapore vs. thailand... =p) so going by the theme, girls we are supposed to have a red coloured accessory... could be a ponytail with a red ribbon (or two ponytails as what vic suggested...reminiscent of our primary days=p) or it could be a red hairband or earings. anything u decide =) clothes wise, preferably have some red design or pattern. betterstill, red dress, red skirt. i've a feeling we are all gonna look sooooo red that day...

guys, since our colour theme is red (remember our theme is red rouge ribbon!=p) a wonderful suggestion from the girls is that u all come in a red bow tie. i think rachel will be bringing some red ribbons from her house so that if u guys want to do anything to ur hair to fit the theme, you can use those red ribbons =)

with regards to programmes for that day, we are planning to go kite-flying, the venue is still tentative. probably at pierce reservoir or macritchie reservoir, somewhere near nina's house. afterwhich we will proceed to nina's house for our steamboat. please bring a change of clothes ya...so that we can take nice photos in our nice outfits! gosh i sound so bimbotic...

for the people staying in the east, we'll be meeting at 3pm at tampines control station. rachel and kingston have kindly volunteered to fetch us to nina's house.

oh and we've plans to create our cell t-shirt! haha looks like we've to start paying more cell fund...

haha yup thats about all. have a blessed week ahead! see you at cell next sunday!

There is a kind of happiness and wonder that makes you serious
- The Last Battle, C.s.Lewis

Hey all

Its been wonderful having seen through the week; every day I am so thankful for renewed strength. Do hope that all's been well and smooth sailing for you too! :)

Anyways, regarding the CNY outing - I have checked with the yum cha restaurant - they will be opened but there will be no buffet unfortunately. So maybe we'll discuss an alternative tomorrow ya.

Have to apologize for this late posting; I was sitting on cell prep for quite a while this week - we will be covering the question, "What happens to Christians who cannot get into heaven". Do try to read up on Romans 14:10-13. Its really short but the implication for us runs deep. Pray and meditate upon it and think about how it applies to the question. Will be good to read the chapter itself as well - think about why Paul was so serious about stuff like meat and wine (Roms 14:1) etc.

So what happens when we die? Why is it important for us to know and learn about such a theme? Ref 2 Corinthians 4:16 - 5:10 and ponder the text. Why doesnt Paul lose heart in the face of persecution? What does it mean truly saying, to live is Christ and to die is gain?

Also read Romans 8:18-25 - this delves deeper in answer to the question, what will happen to us when we die? This discussion will lead us into another question, "If heaven is perfect and sinless, then why did Lucifer fall because of pride? Does that mean we will still have the inclination to sin when we are in heaven?" which we will cover next week. That's pretty much the preview. Will post the relevant references for you to read up but more about that later.

Will cya tomorrow; until then, take care and be safe!

Love in Christ
Rachel
